Autumn (or maybe winter) has arrived in Montana and Madman Across the Water

Well - we actually have snow on the Bridgers! What a great sight, but it can wait awhile longer to get down here to the valley.

Also - I had an opportunity to see Elton John last Saturday - right here in Bozeman! He's never been to Montana - so it was a sell-out crowd and we had excellent seats! What a show. He is a fantastic performer! If you get a chance - go see his show! I've posted this picture of him in his younger days...

New Reading Material

Well - after trying to decide on which classes to take at Artfest 2008, I came across this book by Laurie Mika and had to have it!! I have been wanting to take one of her classes and this will give me an idea of what it will be like... if I'm lucky enough to get in! I am trying to finish up some 'heart quilties' I've been creating for a swap. I'll try to post pics this weekend before I ship them off! I'm also trying to finish up my little houses for Angela Cartwright's In This House Swap! I think I'll need more than the weekend to get it all done!

Canning Time?

I haven't really been into home canning because I've never really had a garden! But this year we have a wonderful garden. Since I work for the Extension Service I have access to lots of publications on canning, freezing fruits and vegetables, and a multitude of other topics. You can contact your local Extension service (nearly each county in the U.S. has an office) for information for your state or check out this publication from Montana... Making Jams and Jellies At Home or check out the Ball Home Canning website for lots of info!

I've been gone so long

Well, I haven't posted in oohhh so long. I've moved, don't have internet at my new house and things have just been crazy. I am getting serious this time - I promise. I have a new camera so I'll be adding some photos very soon. I am spending some serious time in the garden - which is so difficult to do in Montana. We barely have a growing season. But my rhubarb is in full swing. I grabbed a few stalks and made a delicious apple-rhubarb pie last night. Check here for the recipe - I'll have to make another because it didn't last long enough to get a photo!!! I got the idea yesterday afternoon. We went to the Museum of the Rockies and went through an old home they have exhibited - the Tinsley House. The gals are dressed in period costume and they were baking pies, cornbread and various other goodies - I sampled the apple rhubarb pie and knew I had to bake one asap! I have also been working on a few art projects. I had one that was part of the Bird By Bird swap featured in the latest (May/June 2007) Cloth, Paper, Scissors Check it out! Mine is the bottom quiltie on the left.

Another Artfest picture

I made this figure in Liz McGrath's "Creepy Crafts" class. What a great learning experience. I haven't completed the doll, but I had to dress her up for Gallery Night...!

More Artfest 2006 photos...

Here is a picture of the house I made in Nina Bagley's "It Takes A Village" workshop! I would recommend ANY class she teaches!

Wow! Two posts in one day!

Just wanted to mention my boys' band site - Silica - as they have several gigs coming up this month! Zack and Nick are mine...(Zack on the left, Nick on the right)

Starting Again?

I had every intention of starting this blog long, long ago but time always seems to slip away! We'll see what happens. Since the Artfest 2007 workshops/info have been posted on Teesha's site, I have posted a photo I took at Artfest (Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA) this year. It doesn't show how awesome it really is but as this was the 1st of April and I live in Montana, the site of green grass and ocean water made this 'land-locked' girl extremely happy! I've already decided on the workshops I want to take for 2007, but I keep going back to the other descriptions .... just in case I change my mind! More Artfest pics later.
