Where Bloggers Create officially starts on July 14th but I will be at Vintage Whites Market, so here's my contribution early! I have a very tiny new house and have utilized my dining area for a studio! It's definitely a work in progress! Total Makeover

Dye Bath

I don't know why (in the middle of unpacking in my new house) I decided to dye some fabric and lace! Needed to switch gears for a bit, I guess! Don't you love this color? I think I will add some of this to the giveaway! Check here for previous post for the details!

Lovely Tray

I"m in the middle of a move right now. Hopefully I will stay in this place awhile. Excited to have a tiny little yard, tiny little studio space. It will be great. I will have photos soon when I'm settled. Meanwhile, I think I will gear up for a giveaway. In my packing I've found all sorts of treasures that I'd love to share! I am a really nice mom!

Really. I. am. I am actually going to take my 13 yr old daughter to the midnight showing of The Hunger Games! On-a-school-night! Both of my daughters and I have read all the books. They are great. I definitely recommend them! I am probably more excited than my daughter to see this movie! Unfortunately, my oldest daughter lives in Michigan so can't go with us!

Published!

Remember the Princess & the Pea photo shoot we did a few months ago? Well, Tyson Vick, the wonderful photographer who did the shoot submitted his work for publication and it was published in a Canadian fashion magazine - T&M magazine! Exciting, huh? I was the 'set designer' for this - Here are some of his photos from the magazine - love it! I will share more with you soon!

Wordy Wednesday - Threads of Feeling

I belong to a local Textile History group. We often have guest speakers, but it's also a platform for many of our members to give presentations on topics of interest and/or research. I gave a presentation last night! I had read about a textile exhibition in London from the London Foundling Hospital's archives. It's a fascinating story. The exhibit was curated by John Styles. There is a fabulous online slideshow, and also a short news clip from the BBC that tells about this wonderful archive of 18th century textiles. This blog is a great source of information as well! I was also able to purchase a companion book that was written about the exhibit - entitled Threads of Feeling. Go here for ordering information!

"When mother's left babies at London's Foundling Hospital in the mid-eighteenth century, the Hospital often retained a small token as a means of identification, usually a piece of fabric. These swatches of fabric now form Britain's largest collection of everyday textiles from the eighteenth century. They include the whole range of fabrics worn by ordinary women, along with ribbons, embroidery and even some baby clothes. Both beautiful and poignant, each scrap of material reflects the life of a single infant child and that of its absent parent. The enthralling stories the fabrics tell about textiles, fashion, women's skills, infant clothing and maternal emotion are the material of Threads of Feeling."

Today I finished up a little project with my 'word' of 2012 - luminous! I got the idea from Jenny Doh of Crescendoh (though I can't seem to find the photo on her blog...) ~ I also found this dainty little pin-keep at the antique store - and a photo of a recent purchase at a local antique sale at the fairgrounds. I love the design of this tin ceiling tile!

Wordy Wednesday - Rediscovered Treasures & Magazines

Dawn from The Feathered Nest had recommended this book in a recent blog post so I ordered a copy for myself! I really love this book. It was originally published in Norway by Ellen Dyrop and Hanna Kristinsdottir. Lots of great ideas to re-purpose vintage things! Visit Ellen's and Hanna's blogs here ~

I also went on a magazine-buying spree. I noticed the recent copy of Flea Market Style has listed our local Junk Fest as one of the top Flea Markets/Shows to attend! Very exciting!

Tuesday Theme - Love

I spent the weekend making wax paper/melted crayon hearts! Brought me back to my childhood. I love making these! Speaking of childhood - I scanned a few photos of me as a kid! Lotsa love there!  Have a great Valentine's Day!

Friday FYI - mini wheelbarrow!

This isn't really an FYI - but this little wheelbarrow is so cute that I just thought you needed to know about it! It's only about 15" long, 9" wide. So shabby and adorable, huh? I got it at the antique store where I work!

Studio Sunday - 'Royal Crowns'

We made these crowns for the Princess & Pea photo shoot. Found them in my studio today. Believe it or not we used Burger King crowns (the ones they give to kids) for the bases then added our own touches! Worked out pretty well! I've always been fascinated with crowns - it seems like a popular motif right now. I was fascinated by their history - read about them here!

Saturday Sojourn - Red Shoes - Michigan

This past summer my youngest daughter and I flew out to visit my oldest daughter in Michigan. We had a chance to go to the Ann Arbor Street Fair and then I insisted on finding Red Shoes - a lovely little shop also in Ann Arbor. Here are a few photos of the outside - so adorable. I just read on her blog that the storefront has closed. How sad. I loved that place! Happy I got to visit! But she has more creative endeavors in store! Find her on facebook as well!
